Rojo Diamond

FOR all those owners and trainers who struggle to win just one race with their pride and joy, Tassie sprinter Rojo Diamond could be something to aspire to.

Rojo Diamond (Fabregas-Sing The Song by High Earner) has just won his 41st race, taken his stakes to $222,000, and broken the Hobart win record with 28 victories on that track.

Bred and trained by Robin Grubb, he's been a special dog throughout his career running 2nd in the G3 Ladbrokes Chase, 3rd in the G1 Hobart 1000, finalist in the Hobart 1000 in another year, as well as the G2 Launceston Cup and another Ladbrokes Chase.

His sire, Fabregas, won the G1 National Sprint around Hobart.

His dam, Sing The Song won 20 races for Robin, while her dam Stylish Moon won 13 races.

When Fabregas went to stud, I always thought there would be a great opportunity for him to link with daughters of High Earner such was the strong link between their pedigrees.

Of course, daughters of High Earner were always going to be ideal for a mating to Fernando Bale as well and this has been a standout as well.

Why?

Fabregas and High Earner are bred on an identical pattern, but shuffled about, with plenty of balancing to the pedigree.

They both carry Ginger (via son and daughter), Awesome Assassin (via daughter and son), Head Honcho (via daughter and son), and Malawi's Prince all through daughters. And, to top off all of this, the Skipping Chick influence through Larkhill Jo and High Earner's direct damline to Curryhill Brute, is there as well.

And, Rojo Diamond's direct damline traces to Mabel Alice the 2nd dam of Hopeful Light.

This is the famous direct damline of Spanish Dance and is still among the most powerful in Australia through the Hallinan family's great success.

Interesting, Kenny's Best Pal, 4th dam of Rojo Diamond, was from a litter by Iron Rail-Nice Future and this was the very first frozen semen mating done in Australia, way back in 1992.

GREAT to see those South Aussies sticking with their proven lines.

On Thursday night at Angle Park, Jubilant (Querencia-Bailey Rocks by Fernando Bale) won a 530m Maiden.

Bailey Rocks is a litter sister to the Corby/Wudarczyk superstar Sennachie and she was a multiple Angle Park winner and finalist in the Anniversary Cup.

Querencia (Dyna Double One-Irish Keepsake by Premier Fantasy) was always rated by Kirin Corby as a potential superstar who never got the chance to prove it.

He still won the G3 Howard Ashton and was a finalist in the Murray Bridge Cup, running 29.30 on the old Angle Park track.

The pedigree match was probably always going to be done.

Dyna Double One and Fernando Bale, great rivals, are starting to proven a fine combination in pedigrees, right up to G1 level.

Jubilant also brings in the proven Premier Fantasy/Kinloch Brae cross, and the hugely proven Barcia Bale/Fernando Bale cross.
