Princess Killara
IT'S always interesting to look through the results of races like the Mega Maiden the Group 3 series the heats of which have just been completed at Wentworth Park.
Fastest heat winner was Princess Killara (Jungle Deuce-Nangar Freedom by Fernando Bale).
She went 29.77 and how impressive was she storming to the front from her rails draw and striding right away come the post.
I love the fact Brian Jaggers, who part-owned Jungle Deuce, is also part of her ownership.
Nangar Freedom, dam of Princess Killara, raced 27 times for nine wins and 10 placings and she raced for Tracy Barnes, daughter of greyhound legend Dennis.
Nangar Freedom (Fernando Bale-All Too Fancy by Larkhill Jo) won at Dubbo, Bathurst, Casino and Grafton and was placed at Wenty.
But, she deserved her chance at stud because her litter contained a number of Group stars and her mother is a fabulous producer.
In her litter came Nangar Hurricane (3rd G1 NZ Railway Stks, finalist G2 Cobain Mem), Perfect Nangar (finalist Grafton Cup), Nangar Silk (finalist G1 Peter Mosman Opal).
All Too Fancy (Larkhill Jo-Sweet Fancy by Collision) is the mother of the winners of $1.26 million.
Her Brett Lee litter was fabulous.
And her daughters and granddaughters are just as good.
Nangar Silk is the dam of Nangar Jim (G1 Maitland Cup, G3 Temora Cup, 2nd G2 Bulli Gold Cup etc).
The Sweet Fancy damline is among the best this country has seen.
But, it is the actual pedigree of Princess Killara that fascinates.
She is bred on the Group 1 recipe of Barcia Bale/Fernando Bale.
BUT, what appeals most is, Princess Killara is the very first of the progeny of Jungle Deuce to "prove" the fact he is absolutely perfect for matings to daughters of Fernando Bale.
Why?
Because Fernando mated Jungle Deuce's mother Serena Fly High to produce champion Tommy Shelby.
And, Tommy Shelby is proving himself a top notch stud dog, and future great, by mating daughters of Barcia Bale to produce G1 winners (Uncle Tommy and West On Boonie).
The fact Tommy Shelby's G1 star Morton has a dam with a double of Collision is also Princess Killara's pedigree. She has Collision as the sire of her 3rd mother.
There is a very strong link between the direct damline of Jungle Deuce and Tommy Shelby and Collision (and Cosmic Rumble).
Princess Killara's success on debut, in a scorching 29.77 debut win at Wenty, was certainly no surprise for me.
