Kuro Kismet

NOT so long ago, the internet was wild with the view the first progeny sired by Aston Dee Bee were short coursers unable to run a strong 500m.

The "experts" said none would get a distance and the only way to breed to him would be via a powerful bitch that had got distance.

The son of Barcia Bale-Aston Elle was a brilliant galloper winning the G1 Melbourne Cup and setting track records as he went. When he retired, broodbitch owners rushed to him. He had a pedigree to suit most of them.

The "internet experts" were wrong again.

Aston Dee Bee has quickly risen to third on the stud dog list, behind Fernando Bale and his own sire Barcia Bale, and within time as more and more of his progeny get to the races, he has the "chance" to topple both.

With the running of the G2 Launching Pad series, the spotlight quickly shone on Aston Dee Bee's son Kuro Kismet (Aston Dee Bee-Mayfair Miss by Premier Fantasy). He'd already signalled he could run but when he went 29.18 to win his Launching Pad heat he e everyone sit up and take even more notice of his ability.

His pedigree is absolutely fabulous and deserves close scrutiny.

The most significant aspect is that his mother Mayfair Miss is a litter sister to champion Up Hill Jill (Premier Fantasy-Where's Demonica) and of course a half sister to champion My Redeemer (Fernando Bale-Where's Demonica).

Please take notice that this is the direct damline of the famed Floodgate class race bitch who had a long and successful career and then defied those old "internet experts" theory that over-raced bitches never make it at stud.

But, all the way along this damline there are examples of high quality race bitches proving time and time again this is the first and only source of success at stud.

Kuro Kismet's pedigree shows he is bred on the already proven Barcia Bale/Premier Fantasy cross found in G1 winner and former Albion Park TR breaker and now promising stud dog Mepunga Blazer.

But, Kuro Kismet is also bred on the highly successful cross of Hallucinate with his litter brother Where's Pedro, found 4x3 in the Launching Pad star. Check out the pedigree of Ritza Lenny and you will see another example of this cross found in Group stars sired by Barcia Bale.

Next, we come to a 3x4 duplication of Bombastic Shiraz.

He is the dominant ancestor in the pedigree of Aston Dee Bee. Already duplicating Bombastic Shiraz in the pedigree of progeny by Aston Dee Bee is working. Check out his G1 winning littermates Zipping Sapporo and Zipping Moose who landed the National Futurity and Derby early in the year.

They are in-bred to Bombastic Shiraz via daughter Aston Elle and son Bit Chili.

But, it doesn't end there in Kuro Kismet.

He also brings in a 5x5 cross of Spark Again and Awesome Assassin and they are virtual sister and brother so close is the pedigree pattern on which they are bred. This is such a proven cross. G1 National Futurity winner Bralyn Maisie was bred on the Spark Again/Awesome Assassin cross up very close in her pedigree.

She became a high class producer for Brad Northfield ... her best litter being by Hallucinate (damsire of Barcia Bale).

And, for those who believe the outcross influence of Kuro Kismet's damsire Premier Fantasy is hugely influential in this pedigree, there too are common and dominant links between Aston Dee Bee and Mayfair Miss.

Irish legend I'm Slippy and US hall of famer HB's Commander are both duplicated in Kuro Kismet's pedigree ... so much for the outcross influence!

WHILE on the subject of sons of Barcia Bale, Aston Dee Bee has the very fast Feel The Beat (Aston Dee Bee-Fernvale Ruby) going great, while Raw Ability's promising youngster Cash Stack (Raw Ability-Cashpot) is flying.

Both pedigrees have similarities.

Both carry line breeding and balance to Go Wild Teddy.

Feel The Beat is 3x4 to Go Wild Teddy at the top and bottom of his pedigree, while Cash Stack is 3x3 at the top and bottom of his pedigree to Go Wild Teddy.

Cash Stack also carries the highly proven Bit Chili/Brett Lee cross.

But, anyone even remotely interested in pedigrees should look at the pedigree of Feel The Beat.

His mother Fernvale Ruby (Don't Knocka Him-Fernvale Flyer) is in-bred 2x2 to littermates Surf Queen and Made To Size. BUT, this in-breeding is extended even further in the pedigree of Feel The Beat.

He carries a 3x3 of the littermates Elite Oriental and Knocka Norris.

Now, that is some pedigree!
