Overflow Beau

OVERFLOW Beau’s all-the-way win in Saturday night’s Group 3 Brother Fox at Dubbo provided an interesting example of a proven recipe for racetrack success.

He is Fernando Bale-Sweet City Woman by Barcia Bale and that link between the two Wheeler-bred stud stars continues to grow and grow, not only through numerous city winners but Group stars as well.

Craig Chappelow, a nicer person you could not meet, landed the quinella in the Brother Fox with his G1 winning bitch Embrace (Turanza Bale-Twisted Love by Fernando Bale) finishing second.

Ferness (Fernando Bale-Princess Kiwi by Barcia Bale) was third continuing his great form in Group races.

Yes, both the winner and third placed are by Fernando Bale from a daughter of Barcia Bale.

But, it is interesting to note that all three placegetters have an up-close cross of Where’s Pedro in their damline as well.

The winner, Overflow Beau, has Where’s Pedro’s son El Grand Senor as the sire of his 2 nd dam. Therein is yet another proven link with Fernando Bale, a cross seen in many Group performers.

Fernando Bale’s mother, Chloe Allen, is bred on an identical cross to El Grand Senor’s mother Elgrando Gold, both by sons of Black Shiraz and both out of daughters of Awesome Assassin.

What is also an interesting link between these two bitches is that they carry Silver Ball and Barneys Alarm respectively in their pedigrees. That pair both carry such great females as Sheila At Last, Last Landing and April Twilight in their pedigrees.

Embrace is a different mating, but again powerfully linked.

Turanza Bale, her sire, is a virtual brother to Chloe Allen. They are both by Primo Uno, both have Head Honcho in their damline, and both trace to the Wheeler family’s famed Gail’s Beauty damline.

The G1 Sandown Cup winner Bronski Beat is by Fernando Bale from a daughter of Turanza Bale.

WHILE Overflow Beau stole the show at Dubbo on Saturday night with his Brother Fox win, Talk About It (Flying Ricciardo-Talk About Katie by Moreira) landed the Mega Maiden.

And, it once again highlighted what a broodbitch sire Moreira (Kinloch Brae-Donna Ricco by Collision) has become.

Only two days before Talk About It won at Dubbo, Stormy Day came out from under his litter brother Morton’s dominant presence when leading throughout in the G1 Harrison Dawson.

Stormy Day (Tommy Shelby-Chloe Louise by Moreira) had his brother Morton back in third place.

Other stars, or potential stars, out of Moreira bitches include Umberto, the G1 Dapto Megastar winner, King Of Aces (Albion Park 29.54) and the exciting young stayer Payback.

There are numerous others.

Morton and Stormy Day have a fabulous pedigree.

Their dam is line bred 3x4 to Collision. He traces along his damline to an incestuously in-bred dog called Hot Rumble.

Trace the direct damline of Tommy Shelby and you come to Hot Rumble’s sister Velvet Fire.

Interesting that Umberto’s dam Triscay is also in-bred to Collision.

It would make a lot of sense if Triscay was mated to Tommy Shelby, but it appears she missed in her latest mating, to Aston Rupee, late last year.

Check out also the pedigree of King Of Aces (Hooked On Scotch-Distant Star by Moreira). His dam Distant Star too has a double of Collision.

In January, Distant Star whelped a litter by Aston Rupee. I hope Col Graham, who owns the bitch, puts her to Tommy Shelby as soon as he can.
