Molfetta Abby

AN exercise for anyone interested in bloodlines is to each week have a close look at the pedigrees of the winners of city races around the country.

It can certainly toss up some diverse bloodlines and always gives us a good guide to what is putting together a city winner.

Why city winners?

Because those who win at Albion Park, Sandown and Angle Park on a Thursday night, and The Meadows, Wenty and Cannington are the better quality race dogs.

Yes, Group performers are the ultimate, but city wins is where the money is and the competitiveness of that class of racing is tough. It produces quality.

I remember talking to the late, great Paul Wheeler some years ago and mentioned a new young stud dog was doing well on the provincials around Victoria.

He response was that he NEVER took any notice of provincial racing … only city performances.

On Saturday night over at Mandurah (now the hub of city racing in WA while Cannington is being revamped), a couple of winners, Molfetta Abby and Leadfoot Erin, caught my eye.

Molfetta Abby is Houdini Boy-West On Nessy by Barcia Bale and she went 27.36 at Mandurah.

Leadfoot Erin is Zack Monelli-Starlight Asha by Cosmic Rumble and she went 27.78 at Mandurah.

The latter bitch has a special 3x2 of Magic Sprite and Cosmic Rumble who are both bred on the Brett Lee/Spiral Nikita cross … but in reverse.

Molfetta Abby has a 3x3 of Magic Sprite and Noaki Pace are they are virtual brother and sister. Both are bred on the Brett Lee/Spiral Nikita cross, again in reverse.

But, this time Magic Sprite and Noaki Pace both have Leprechaun Yap as their second dam.

What is even more interesting is that Molfetta Abby is in-bred 4x3 to Go Wild Teddy balanced via daughter and son, and she carries the highly proven Zambora Brockie/Barcia Bale cross.

And, to top it all off, she also has a double and balance of Bombastic Shiraz 4x3 at the top and bottom of her pedigree.

Obviously, when it comes time to mate Molfetta Abby she will need some outcross influence.

WHICH brings me to Knighted Kaos, a 29.77 winner at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

Knighted Kaos is Aston Rupee-Aston Coup by Black Magic Opal.

But, what stands out is the fact Knighted Kaos is in-bred 2x2 to the half sisters Aston Miley and Aston Chapel, both of them daughters of the great broodbitch Aston Elle … the famed Elite Oriental/Knocka Norris damline that also includes Awesome Assassin.
