Magistrate

DONNA Darcy bred Inspired Hope to Fernando Bale late in 2020 and it was as good a mating as could possibly be.

On Saturday night at Ipswich in the heats of a Young Guns, the flag bearer for the litter, Magistrate, went good ... oh, so good. He won his heat in 30.23 by almost eight lengths to continue his rise among the stars of the track.

He's already winner of the G3 Origin Sprint, G3 Ipswich Auction, and the Auction Sprint, he's been third in the G2 Flying Amy Classic and a finalist in the recent $1 million G1 Brisbane Cup.

It's impressive to say the least.

When Donna undertook to put Inspired Hope to Fernando it brought in so many proven crosses, and one in particular that was before its time.

Inspired Hope(Zambora Brockie-Lilly Sur Seine by Barcia Bale) raced 22 times for seven wins, five 2nds and one 3rd for stakes of $14,000. Her wins came at Ipswich and Capalaba and she was a finalist in the Capalaba Futurity.

But, she comes from a wonderful litter of which six were named and all six were winners.

They include Easy Al (15 wins, $33,000), Made In America (20 wins, $51,000, Capalaba Derby, finalist Ips Auction 431m, twice finalist Capalaba Cup), the luckless No Easy Beat (8 wins, $39,000, Silver Dollars), Sequana (26 wins, $144,000, 2nd G3 Golden Ticket, finalist G2 Qld Futurity, G2 Lismore Gold Cup) and Stinger Noir (25 wins, $146,000, Qld final Nat Sprint, 3rd Super Sprinters, finalist G3 Ips Cup, G3 Tville Cup).

Inspired Hope, and her fabulous littermates, carry one of the very best pedigrees I have studied.

She is bred on the proven "nick" of Zambora Brockie over a daughter of Barcia Bale.

But she brings in a 4x3 duplication and balance of Kiowa Sweet Trey, and a 4x4 cross of the famous litter brothers Trendy Leigh and Brett Lee positioned to hugely impact with each other.

I have no doubt this Trendy Leigh/Brett Lee cross is behind the success of the litter.

So, when Donna mated Inspired Hope to Fernando Bale, it produced the now highly successful "nick" with Zambora Brockie.

Obviously Donna was not aware it would be so great. She got lucky ... or what it simply great management.

Current day superstar Amron Boy (22 wins, $661,000) is by Zambora Brockie from a daughter of Fernando Bale.

Recently retired Plaintiff is bred on the same cross.

Magistrate and Amron Boy both raced in the recent G1 Brisbane Cup final.

While Magistrate is tough to beat in next Saturday night's Young Guns final at Albion Park, the pedigree of Brimstone, another Young Guns finalist, is interesting to say the least.

By US stud dog Flying Fired Up, Brimstone is from Agame (Buckle Up Wes-Bishop's Lass by Surf Lorian). Mick and Selena Zammit train him as well as his litter sister Icy Eyes (29.87 in Albion Park maiden win).

Just like Inspired Hope, Brimstone produces a duplication and balance of US stud great Kiowa Sweet Trey 4x5.

Agame has a 2x2 cross of Everlong Bale and Hardy Bale. They are both from the Primo Uno sireline and both trace to the Wheeler family's famed Gail's Beauty.

Such intensity in a pedigree can make a broodbitch saturated with dominant bloodlines and able to become a fine producer.

This has certainly happened with Agame and the very fast Brimstone and his sister Icy Eyes are proof of that.
