Jungle Johnny
HE’S been a young star right from the moment he desperately held off soon-to-be track record breaker Dalwhinnie in a maiden heat at Wenty back in October last year.
Jungle Johnny (Jungle Deuce-Springvale Carla by Bekim Bale) proved that once again on Saturday night at Dubbo when he led virtually throughout to win the Country Classic final and take home the $100,000 winner’s cheque.
He’s quickly become Jungle Deuce’s flag bearer. The fabulous son of Barcia Bale-Serena Fly High was always going to make it, but he also appears dominant for providing strength to his progeny.
That’s not unreasonable considering he was a 600m star and his mother and granddam were both fine stayers.
And, his famous half brother, Tommy Shelby, can also toss up some very strong offspring.
So, what is behind Jungle Johnny’s pedigree that makes him a standout?
Some very fine line breeding … that’s what.
First, he brings in a 3x3 of the littermates Princess Bale and Bartrim Bale, a cross that has worked often to Group level.
But, he also has Big Daddy Cool 4x4 as the sire of the third dam of both Jungle Deuce and Springvale Carla.
Add to that, we bring in the tried and true link between Token Prince and Rumble Spirit 5x4 and they are bred on an identical cross and provide a perfect balance for each other.
Token Prince is a SON of Malawi’s Prince, Rumble Spirit is a DAUGHTER.
Token Prince’s dam is bred on the same Brother Fox/Waverly Supreme cross as Rumble Spirit’s dam. Brother Fox is balanced coming through his son Amerigo Man in Token Prince.
So much for diversity in pedigrees.
The Collision cross with Token Prince (Collision is a son of Rumble Spirit) has been proven time and time again.
So, what do we have here in the pedigree of Jungle Johnny?
We have both sire and dam bred along almost identical lines.
And, what has it achieved?
A young star of course.
So much for diversity in pedigrees.
WHICH brings us to Peter Lagogiane’s latest racetrack star, She’s That Girl (Hooked On Scotch-Barbados Express by Fernando Bale) who on Saturday night took out the G3 New Sensation at Wenty.
The bitch has already won in 29.23 around Wenty.
Pedigrees By Design helped put together the pedigree that is now showcased by She’s That Girl.
It was a natural, bringing in the Nicki Fields (dam of Hooked On Scotch) with Fernando Bale (sire of Barbados Express) 2x2. It’s the cross that produced Poke The Bear and Out Of Range both G1 stars.
The Hooked On Scotch/Fernando Bale cross is also found in star stayer Black Silencer, G1 runner-up Harmony Fire, G1 runner-up Gold Scotch, that fine Qlder Smart And Classy, Ipswich Derby winner Carton Of Bear … the list keeps improving all the time.
