Dyna Patty
DYNA Patty will go into Saturday night's Group 1 Maturity final as the likely hot favourite after drawing the rails and she is aiming to become yet another Group 1 winner sired by champion Fernando Bale.
She is a dark brindle bitch by Fernando Bale-Unix Bale by Collision and continues the successful formula for success via her sire.
But, what she will also become is only the second Group 1 winning female sired by Fernando Bale and the first to do so against males.
Fernando Bale is hugely dominant for males as his best offspring.
A quick look at his highest stakes earners to date proves this. Dyna Patty is his highest stakes earning female with 21 starts for 10 wins and seven placings earning $105,000 to place her 12th on Fernando's leading earners.
Next on the list of Fernando's leading females is Velocity Liberty at No 16 and she has earned $93,000 from her six wins with $75,000 of it coming from her recent Peter Mosman victory. She is still Fernando's only Group 1 winning female.
Only four females are in the top 21 of Fernando's highest stakes earning progeny, the others being Frida Monelli at No 18 and Go Seek Heidi at No 21. Of course there are other females that have a degree of class including Slingshot Gypsy, Poco Dorado etc.
But, generally Fernando's sons are his race dogs and his best.
Dyna Patty could change that at The Meadows on Saturday night in the Maturity final.
And, she has all the genetic make-up to be the brilliant race performer she has become.
She is bred on the same Fernando Bale/Collision bitch cross as Group 1 Perth Cup winner Trouper Monelli (and his litter sister Frida Monelli).
Collision bitches are a natural for Fernando Bale because it brings in a 3x1 cross of the similarly bred, and beautifully balanced, Rosemary Male and Collision. They are a daughter and son respectively of Awesome Assassin, and they bring in a son and daughter respectively of Brother Fox in their dam.
Unix Bale, dam of Dyna Patty, was a special race bitch herself. Almost ALL of Fernando's best progeny are out of higher achieving race bitches.
Unix Bale started 94 times for 19 wins and 26 placings earning $92,000. She was a finalist in the Group 1 Association Cup, Group 1 Sandown Cup and Group 3 SA Oaks. Her half sister Kilkee Flex (by Kinloch Brae) was a Group 1 finalist as well.
Mamie Bale, second dam of Dyna Patty, was just as good.
She started 55 times for 13 wins and 21 placings earning $56,000 with multiple wins at The Meadows and Sandown.
Mamie Bale is a half sister to Group 1 stars like Lamia Bale, Kerrigan Bale, Dyna Nico, Zambola Bale, Erica Allen.
Zambola Bale has produced Group 1 Silver Chief winner Ollie Bale.
Lamia Bale won the Sapphire Crown, Laurels, Dillon memorial, Ambrosolli, and was a finalist in the Australian Cup, Rookie Rebel, Maturity, Topgun, Melbourne Cup all at Group 1.
Many enthusiasts who study what Paul Wheeler does when designing the many pedigrees he puts together with great success, have a theory or two about what he does and does not try to achieve.
Wheeler's penchant for outcrossing his damline has one main benefit, to protect the greatest asset he has. This outcrossing allows his damline, that of Gail's Beauty and her genetic sister Namor Star, to dominate the matings they have.
Then Paul breeds heavily back into the best sirelines in the country at the time, always to highly successful stud dogs. He generally will only "test" unproven dogs via his own bloodlines, or via imported semen.
Let someone else prove a stud dog is a good bit of advice all breeders should listen to.
When putting together the pedigree that produced Dyna Patty, Wheeler brought together a reinforcement of the Gail's Beauty branch of his famous bloodlines.
Fernando Bale's direct damline runs straight to a bitch called Sarah Bale (World Acclaim-Mercia Bale). Sarah Bale has Gail's Beauty as her third mother.
Trace the direct damline of Dyna Patty's mother Unix Bale and we come to a bitch called Red Fire Bale who just happens to be a World Acclaim-Mercia Bale litter sister to Sarah Bale.
Check out the pedigree of a Wheeler-bred bitch called Crystin Bale. She won the Group 1 National Futurity. She is in-bred 4x4 to none other than Red Fire Bale and Sarah Bale.
When Crystin Bale was mated to Wheeler-bred Maturity winner Barcia Bale, she produced a champion litter headed by champion Dyna Double One.
But the proven success does not end there.
Take a long look at the pedigree of Allen Deed, the Wheeler-bred Group 1 Adelaide Cup winner and Meadows TR breaker. He is by Jarvis Bale-Greta Bale
Jarvis Bale, you will remember, is a half brother to Fernando Bale's dam Chloe Allen. Greta Bale is by Where's Pedro-Gold Rush Bale. She is line bred to Wheeler's Gail's Beauty family via Handsomelee in Where's Pedro and Lansley Bale her damsire.
Where's Pedro is the sire of Dyna Patty's second dam Mamie Bale.
It would not surprise me to see Dyna Patty link up with Barcia Bale, or even his son Dyna Double One, in the future to produce a Group star. Fernando Bale has already sired Group stars Hecton Bale (his highest stakes earner) and Mossimo Bale, to a bitch bred identically to Barcia Bale.
