Highly Effective

THE 520m win by Highly Effective at Wentworth Park on Saturday night highlighted just what a versatile galloper he is.

The son of Silent Effective-Kalaycia has now raced 47 times for 14 wins, 14 placings and earned $53,000 in stakes.

Interesting that he comes from a litter of five named offspring but is easily the standout. In fact, only two of the litter have won a race each and two others are non-winners.

His pedigree deserves evaluation.

His sire, Silent Effective (Cosmic Rumble-Best Percentage by Big Daddy Cool), was a smart galloper running a track record at Bulli but was a multiple Wentworth Park winner getting down to 29.54 during his race career.

He is from the famed Top Priority damline that is still tossing up high class race dogs. The best recent example is Wise Misty the Ipswich Gold Cup winner.

Highly Effective is out of Kalaycia (Cosmic Chief-Greysynd Storm by Bombastic Shiraz).

On the racetrack, she started just twice for a win at the ACT. Her litter included Greysynd Hawk (7 wins, $13,000) and Storm Chief (13 wins, $20,000).

What is interesting about the pedigree of Highly Effective is that he is in-bred 1x2x2 to similarly bred Silent Effective, Best Percentage and Cosmic Chief. Silent Effective is hugely in-bred 3x2 to Brett Lee and Big Daddy Cool the famous half brothers, but also brings in a 3x3 of similarly bred Rumble Spirit and Token Prince.

Rumble Spirit and Token Prince are both by Malawi's Prince. Their dams are by Brother Fox or his son Amerigo Man. Rumble Spirit and Token Prince are therefore an ideal "balance" for each other.

They are found combined in the pedigrees of many great greyhounds.

In Highly Effective, his sire Cosmic Chief is also bred on the Brett Lee/Token Prince cross the same as Silent Effective and similarly to Best Percentage.

Highly Effective's 2nd dam Greysynd Storm is also intensely in-bred to the famed Princess Diro family.

THE victory on Saturday night is WA of highly promising youngster Manzu has continued to highlight the stud exploits of Vanderworp.

Manzu (Vanderworp-Legit Boss by Spiral Nikita) has already won the G2 WA Derby and won in a flying 29.55 at Cannington. He is something else.

This is the direct damline of Winsome Blue. His second mother West On Bluebird is a sister to legend Miata.

Vanderworp (Kelsos Fusileer-High Recall by High Earner) won 16 races and $120,000 and thoroughly deserved a stud career such was his pace and chase.

All six of his littermates were winners.

Vanderworp has been under used by broodbitch owners so far, with only litters from Legit Boss, Starlight Call, Dubliner and Weedle Monelli to the racetrack.

Manzu has won seven and earned $64,000, while Pikachu Wave has won 10 and earned $29,000.

All of Vanderworp's progeny are about two years old so have much time to increase the credentials of their sire. Manzu is certainly doing that on his own.
