Trojan Horse

PROVEN crosses that lead to greatly successful greyhounds abound in this world ... and even over the ditch.

Sunday's fabulous race meeting that saw the running of the Group 1 Auckland Cup and Group 1 Railway Sprint proved that again.

The Cup went to Aussie-bred Federal Morgan (Barcia Bale-Absolute Beaut by Kinloch Brae) and hasn't he been a revelation since going to NZ now with two Group 1s and a track record.

But, it was the pedigree of Trojan Hoarse (Fernando Bale-Ocotillo by Collision) that interested me the most.

He's is something of a war hoarse (sorry) in NZ winning a couple of G1s over short courses and being a high class galloper for a couple of years.

He is bred on the highly proven Fernando Bale/Collision cross that has been responsible for such stars as Dyna Patty, Whiskey Riot, Fernando's Riot and Trouper Monelli to name just four examples of this cross.

But, he is also yet another of the progeny of Fernando Bale to carry a duplication of Primo Uno up close in their pedigree. Champion Sennachie is the perfect example of this cross.

Again, there are many other examples.

But, Trojan Hoarse has as his second dam Shemar (Primo Uno-Come Uppance) who is a sister to G1 star Run The Risk and a half sister to Messines the dam of top class stayer Shimaguni (by Primo Uno) the granddam of current superstar Shima Shine.

What a broodbitch Ocotillo has become. In litters by Fernando Bale, Barcia Bale, Fabregas and Yella Mustard she is the dam of six Group performers.

Which brings us back to Federal Morgan who also has some huge line breeding to back up his racetrack credentials.

His dam Absolute Beaut is a sister to superstars Ring The Bell, Bells Are Ringin and Blazin Bomber.

Federal Morgan brings in the 3x4 cross of the famous half brothers Hallucinate and Pure Octane which continues to work to G1 success.

And, Barcia Bale has also worked exceptionally well with the direct damline of Kinloch Brae. G1 staying star Dublin Bull is just one example of this cross.

BARCIA Bale is also the sire of Saturday night's Lew Dorsa Memorial winner at Cannington, the highly promising Stout Monelli (Barcia Bale-Carona Monelli by Magic Sprite).

Stout Monelli has only just turned two and already he has won 11 races and $68,000. He's also won the WA Puppy Classic and was third in the Listed Canning Trophy and run 29.70 around Cannington when winning.

He is bred on the highly proven Barcia Bale/Magic Sprite cross that has already produced Qld GOTY Fast Times (now at stud in Ireland).

But, his dam Corona Monelli is yet another David Hobby purchase from the Wheeler kennels that have proved such a wonderful buy.

Hobby bought Dyna Sandy (Surf Lorian-Corona Bale) from Wheeler and she has proven herself time and time again for the Hobby kennel.

Her litter to Barcia Bale produced Sahannah Monelli who in turn is the dam of such stars as Mermaid Monelli, Pixie Monelli, Redcap Monelli, Chimera Monelli and Werewolf Monelli all Group class gallopers.

The cross of Barcia Bale to Corona Monelli also brought in a reinforcement of the Wheeler family's foundation bitch Gail's Beauty through Lansley Bale in the damline of Barcia Bale and Corona Monelli's own direct damline.

Dave Hobby has a ready-made mix for sisters to Stout Monelli. They will be ideal for matings to Fernando Bale who already has a hugely successful cross with daughters of Barcia Bale.

This is exactly how Mermaid Monelli and Werewolf Monelli, both G1 class, are bred.
