Profit Plan

THOSE with a penchant for analysing pedigrees in the greyhound world, will have noticed with interest the result of the time-honoured Pop Northfield Maiden at Casino last Friday.

Profit Plan (Magic Sprite-Kingsbrae Missy) continued the re-emergence of his sire Magic Sprite in recent months as a powerhouse stud dog with a classy victory as favourite.

Profit Plan downed Kooringa Lucy (Fernando Bale-Mitcharlie Mia) with Miss Rocket (Peter Rocket-Miss Stouser) in third.

But, what breeding enthusiasts will notice is that all three placegetters are out of virtual litter sisters, Kingsbrae Missy, Mitcharlie Mia and Miss Stouser.

Kingsbrae Missy and Miss Stouser are from the Don't Knocka Him-Kingsbrae Sam litter whelped back in November 2014.

Mitcharlie Mia is by Don't Knocka Him from Proper Lucy. Her third dam Pretty Jacklyn is also the third dam of Kingsbrae Sam.

The Don't Knocka Him-Kingsbrae Sam mating was fabulous producing 10 offspring of which all were winners.
They won 139 races and earned $320,000 racing around the Northern Rivers of NSW.

Star of the litter was of course Terra Torra (31 wins, $100,000) who was a multiple Group winner and placegetter.
Profit Plan's dam Kingsbrae Missy was no slouch winning 22 races and $43,000.

Miss Stouser, too, could run winning 10 races and $22,000.
Mitcharlie Mia, dam of Pop Northfield runner-up Koorina Lucy, was a real racetrack star winning 38 races and earning $145,000. She held her own right up to Group 1 level.

Her littermates Lunatic Desley (14 wins) and Proper Bluey (10 wins) could run as well.
But what is most interesting about the Pop Northfield final is that all three placegetters are by entirely different stud dogs.

Winner Profit Plan is a son of Magic Sprite and the pedigree match that produced Profit Plan was already proven.
Potential superstar Sulzanti is by Magic Sprite from Scissor Queen a litter sister to Don't Knocka Him.
Runner-up Kooringa Lucy is by Fernando Bale.

The mating of Group 1 star Mitcharlie Mia to champion Fernando Bale was always going to be tried, not so much for the pedigree it produced, but simply because it is "flavour of the month".

But it did duplicate Awesome Assassin 4x5 and also introduced a cross of his sister Goddess Of Fire.
Third placed Miss Rocket is by the much underrated Peter Rocket a son of Where's Pedro who is bred on the hugely successful Elusive Rebel/Lansley Bale cross.

Profit Plan, Kooringa Lucy and Miss Rocket all trace to the famed Brindle County a bitch Billy Northfield (of Pretty Short fame) introduced to the Northern Rivers and his family has been using for decades.

And the success of that famous line, tracing to Brother Fox's dam Pitstock Park, continues today.
